FreeFlight Systems has integrated its dual-band ADS-B technology into Collins Aerospace’s Pro Line 21 avionics, enabling real-time weather and traffic data in flight. This integration supports delivery of FIS-B information to pilots across all phases of flight and allows weather visuals to be displayed directly on the Pro Line 21 map or via electronic flight bag applications.
Collaboration between FreeFlight, Collins Aerospace and BHE & Associates has produced two AML Supplemental Type Certificates for installations on various Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft types. The Part 23 AML STC has already been completed and applies to multiple Textron Aviation aircraft including the 525 series, B200, B300 and C90 variants. The Part 25 AML STC, expected by May 2025, will include the 560XL and Hawker 750 through 900XP models.
Pilots using the system will be able to integrate ADS-B IN data with other weather sources and in-flight tools, improving decision-making, flight safety and route efficiency. Anthony Rios, president of FreeFlight Systems, says: “Our collaboration with Collins Aerospace reflects our commitment to providing pilots with the most advanced tools for informed decision-making. By integrating our dual-band ADS-B solution with Collins' leading avionics, we are enhancing in-flight situational awareness and ultimately improving safety and efficiency for operators.”
Fuel efficiency and emission reductions are expected outcomes of the improved traffic and route planning functions enabled by this cockpit upgrade.
