The Dassault Falcon 7X is a large cabin business jet that was designed entirely in a virtual environment. Its first flight was on 5 May, 2005 from Bordeaux-Merignac and the FAA and EASA granted type certification on 27 April, 2007. The 7X entered service on 15 June, 2007.
The Falcon 7X can fly 5,950 nm with a maximum operating speed of 0.90 mach, linking city pairs such as Paris-Tokyo, Shanghai-Seattle and New York-London City airport with a payload of eight passengers and three crew. It can land and stop in just 630m, and as a result can access airports with hot and high conditions and steep approaches, as well as those with stringent noise restrictions. Because it can land at almost 90 per cent of its maximum take off weight, it can perform multiple short and long flights without having to refuel.
The three-engined cantilever monoplane has a low-positioned, highly swept wing. It has a horizontal stabiliser at mid-height, retractable tricycle landing gear and three rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney PW307A turbofan engines: two on the side of the fuselage and one in a centre position, each delivering 6,4000 lbf. Time between overhauls is 7,200 hours, typically 14 years of operation.
The Falcon 7X is equipped with a Digital Flight Control System reflecting Dassault’s 30 years of military experience. The cabin features three lounge areas with 28 large windows and noise-limiting acoustics technology. At an altitude of 41,000 ft, cabin pressure is 3,950 ft.
