Overview

Cessna Aircraft Company launched the Citation M2 on 26 September, 2011; a single pilot certified light business jet seating up to six passengers. It bridges the gap between the Citation Mustang and the Citation CJ family, and is based on the CJ1 variant with a new cabin layout. The M2 became Cessna's entry-level jet after production of the Citation Mustang stopped in May 2017.

The first flight of the Citation M2 prototype took place in March 2012 and the first production unit flew on 23 August, 2013. FAA certification followed on 23 December, 2013 and EASA certification on 23 June, 2014.

The Citation M2 has an aluminium airframe with a T-tail and a straight wing that includes LED lights. It has a maximum cruise speed of 400 knots, a range of 1,300 nm and can operate at airports with runways as short as 3,250 ft. A pair of FADEC-controlled Williams International FJ44-1AP-21 turbofan engines power the M2, each producing 1,965 lbf of thrust.

Textron Aviation unveiled the Citation M2 Gen2 with interior modifications at NBAA-BACE in October 2021. First deliveries were made in Spring 2022.
