SAF access increases across Colorado
Avfuel and Atlantic Aviation have grown their sustainable aviation fuel supply agreement to include continuous inventory of Neste MY SAF at all four of Atlantic's Colorado locations.
Atlantic Aviation now offers a consistent supply of SAF at all its Colorado locations.

An agreement between Avfuel and Atlantic Aviation for the supply of sustainable aviation fuel at Atlantic's Aspen facility in Spring 2021 is now expanded to include the supply to Atlantic's Telluride/Montrose, Steamboat Springs/Hayden and Aspen/Rifle FBOs across Colorado.

“We are committed to enabling our customers to achieve their sustainability goals economically through the strategic expansion of SAF,” says Atlantic chief commercial and sustainability officer Brian Corbett. “We view offering alternatives to fossil fuels as the most viable and impactful near term step to achieving a greener future and are committed to supporting customer sustainability goals accordingly. We know environmental sustainability is vitally important in our mountains.”

Avfuel manager of alternative fuels Keith Sawyer adds: “We could not be more proud to expand SAF's availability through this partnership with Atlantic Aviation; furthermore, we're incredibly appreciative of its team, which has worked tirelessly to further sustainability initiatives. Together, we can support a cleaner aviation for a brighter future.”

With one of the highest average blend ratios available in business aviation to date (30/70 SAF to petroleum-based jet fuel), each truckload of Neste MY SAF reduces carbon emissions by 19 metric tons across its lifecycle. This reduction is equivalent to the amount of carbon sequestered by 22.5 acres of US forests per year.

Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 80 per cent compared to fossil jet fuel if used in its neat, concentrated form. It is made from 100 per cent sustainably sourced, renewable waste and residue raw materials such as used cooking oil. It is a fully approved drop-in fuel that, once blended with petroleum jet fuel, meets ASTM D-1655 specification for conventional jet fuel and performance standards under all operating conditions. This makes Neste MY SAF an optimum solution to directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from air travel, requiring no new investments, modifications or changes to aircraft, fuel distribution procedures or airport fuel storage tanks. It is a today solution, commercially available and in use worldwide.

Atlantic has nine locations certified as NATA Green Aviation businesses; four in Colorado have achieved Tier 3. These accreditations sit alongside other environmental stewardship programmes that include achievement of scope 1 & 2 carbon neutrality via partnership with Carbonfund.org, along with scope 3 carbon neutrality in Pitkin County – offsetting the sale of all general and commercial aviation gallons sold at that airport.
