The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved FlightSafety International’s (FSI) Gulfstream G600/G700 Level D full-flight simulator (FFS). Located at FSI’s Learning Center in Long Beach, California, the device is the first G600/G700 convertible simulator approved for training in the United States.
The decision to place the device in Long Beach was shaped in part by customer feedback, with FSI expanding training capacity where customers need it most.
The FFS was engineered and manufactured by FSI in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. It supports training for Gulfstream GVII and GVIII type-rated pilots and is part of a highly configurable simulator platform designed to expand training capability over time.
The device is equipped with FSI’s VITAL 1150 image generator, featuring rapid environment update capabilities for responsive visual processing. It also has a 42-inch electric motion base and can support advanced training requirements, including G600 steep approach operations.
Ben Carter, executive vice president, Learning Center operations, FlightSafety International, says: “By enabling multiple aircraft configurations within a single device, we are helping customers optimise training access while maintaining the highest standards of fidelity and safety.”
The Long Beach device will significantly increase domestic training capacity for Gulfstream operators. FSI’s other G600/G700 device, located in Singapore, received FAA G600 certification in August 2026, with training underway for regional customers.
