Textron has confirmed that AeroMech has gained an FAA supplemental type certificate for installation of Starlink connectivity on Hawker 700, 800 and 900 series aircraft.
The STC covers the Starlink Aviation performance kit, which draws on Starlink's Low Earth Orbit satellite constellation to provide broadband coverage over land, water and remote areas where conventional in-flight Wi-Fi systems can lose signal.
Brad White, senior vice president, customer support at Textron, says: “Hawker operators continue to look to Textron Aviation for long-term care and upgrade solutions that ensure their aircraft remain mission-ready in today's operating environment. By listening closely to our customers to expand Starlink availability, we are reinforcing our commitment to supporting the Hawker fleet.”
Operators of the Hawker 700, 800 and 900 series can schedule installation of the performance kit at Textron Aviation service centres across North America, as well as at a number of international locations. The next-generation Starlink system supports streaming, video calls, gaming and other bandwidth-intensive applications, with download speeds of up to 1 Gbps, upload speeds of up to 100 Mbps and latency as low as 20 ms.
The certification extends Starlink coverage across an additional segment of Textron Aviation's in-service Hawker fleet, adding to the connectivity options already available across the manufacturer's product line.
