Garmin has released a set of updates to Garmin Pilot for Apple devices, including a redesigned Flights page, an expansion of SmartCharts to Canada and Mexico and refinements to the FISK VFR Arrival ahead of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026.
The Flights page replaces the previous Trip Planning page as the central hub for route planning, weight and balance and fuel planning, bringing briefing tools into a single workflow across Garmin Pilot Web and the mobile app. Quickset cards allow pilots to enter key data quickly, with the option to expand each card for more detailed information. The Flights page is available immediately in Garmin Pilot on Apple devices.
SmartCharts, previously limited to the United States and Bahamas, will extend to Garmin Pilot Premium subscribers in Canada and Mexico from August. The expansion brings continuous descent final approach paths and cold weather corrections to pilots flying non-precision approaches and cold temperature restricted airports in the two countries, alongside existing SmartCharts functionality. SmartCharts is included with Premium subscriptions covering the United States, Canada or Latin America, with a Worldwide option available for pilots operating across multiple regions.
Ahead of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026, Garmin has also updated the FISK VFR Arrival procedure across its navigation database, SmartCharts and airport diagram products. Additional waypoint labelling, runway dots and squares matching ATC colour conventions and a direct link to the arrival page within the AirVenture NOTAM are intended to help pilots brief and fly the arrival. From July 9, as part of the July database cycle, the FISK procedure will also be available as a STAR, allowing pilots to load it into avionics for lateral guidance while maintaining visual awareness of waypoints and traffic.
Carl Wolf, Garmin vice president aviation sales, marketing, programmes and support, says: “Garmin Pilot continues to evolve with innovative tools that help pilots plan and fly with greater confidence. The redesigned Flights page delivers a more intuitive flight planning experience with integrated routing, weight and balance and fuel planning tools.”
