The deal strengthens AMETEK’s component repair capabilities across military, airline and corporate aviation markets while keeping First Aviation’s leadership team in place.

AMETEK has agreed to acquire First Aviation Services in a deal that expands its aircraft component maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities across military, airline and corporate aviation markets.

Headquartered in Westport, Connecticut, First Aviation Services provides aircraft parts manufacturing, component repair and overhaul and rotables management services through a group of specialist aviation businesses.

Its subsidiaries include Aerospace Turbine Rotables, Associated Aircraft Manufacturing & Sales, Aviation Blade Services, Evōlution Aerospace, Master Support, HeliBlade International, RealLock and Piedmont Propulsion Systems.

The companies support a broad range of aircraft systems including landing gear, helicopter rotor blades, actuation systems, lighting, oxygen and fire suppression systems, hydrostatic testing and propeller overhaul services covering Dowty, Hamilton, Hartzell and McCauley products.

Following completion of the transaction, First Aviation will operate within the North American business unit of AMETEK’s MRO division under the existing leadership of president and COO Paul Bolton.

Paul Bolton, president and COO at First Aviation Services, says: “AMETEK is an outstanding company with a strong track record of performance. It understands our industry and brings important resources to support First Aviation's continued growth.”

David A. Zapico, chairman and chief executive officer at AMETEK, adds: “First Aviation is a strong strategic fit with our MRO platform, providing attractive market expansion opportunities and broadening the scope of our component MRO services.”
