Turbolyft has introduced AWARE, a 360-degree overhead aircraft awareness system designed for the AS350 and H125 helicopter series, bringing a continuous top-down view to support pilot awareness and operational safety.

The system delivers a full aircraft-perimeter perspective, removing blind spots and improving approach and landing visibility. It is positioned as an alternative to door-mounted and belly-mounted cameras, offering a unified overhead reference suited to missions including emergency medical services, search and rescue, law enforcement, utility operations and training.

“Helicopter pilots operate in some of the most demanding environments in aviation,” says Jeremy Prasad, president of Turbolyft. “AWARE gives crews something they've never had before: a live, stitched 360-degree top-down reference of their aircraft. It's like adding an external visual safety layer that dramatically enhances spatial awareness.”

AWARE uses six onboard cameras to capture synchronised visual data from around the aircraft. Real-time processing and stitching technology combine these inputs into a seamless bird’s-eye composite, giving pilots a continuous view of both the aircraft and its immediate surroundings.

The system is intended to support precision during confined-area landings, rooftop operations, offshore approaches and obstacle-rich environments, helping to reduce workload while improving control and awareness.

Additional capabilities in development include AI-based recognition, longline visibility, heat monitoring and people detection.

“This technology represents a leap forward in operational safety and situational awareness for the AS350/ H125 platform,” adds Brandon Lowe, director of sales and marketing at Turbolyft.
