Vista America has added a Bombardier Challenger 350 full flight simulator (FFS) to its Columbus, Ohio headquarters. Developed by Axis Flight Training Systems, the FAA qualified device marks Axis’ first Level D CL350 simulator in the US and its third in the country.
The FFS is equipped with a Van Halteren motion system and an RSi XT6 visual system with a 200x45 field of view. It features a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Advanced rehosted avionics suite and is certified for LPV, RNP and RAAS/Smart Runway operations. Optional capabilities include CPDLC, an electronic checklist and steep approach functionality.
Vista America will use the simulator to deliver complete in-house pilot training, including Line-Oriented Flight Training and Upset Recovery Training. Operating up to 16 hours a day, seven days a week, it will soon support type rating and ATP courses.
President David Stanley says: “Having a Challenger 350 simulator at our headquarters allows us to deliver comprehensive pilot training under one roof, ensuring the consistency, safety and elevated experience that Vista clients expect.”
Axis executive board member Christian Theuermann adds: “Qualifying our first CL350 simulator in the US is a significant milestone for Axis. It highlights our ability to deliver specialised devices tailored to leading global operators such as Vista.”
The installation coincides with Vista America achieving Wyvern Wingman PRO, ARGUS Platinum Elite and IS-BAO Stage III safety accreditations. These recognise operational excellence across its FAA-licensed carriers JetSelect LLC and Western Air Charter.
Vista America’s academy also delivers cabin host training through partnerships with the British Butler Institute, MedAire and the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. Pilot retention has risen by 44 per cent since 2023, reflecting the operator’s focus on professional development and long-term safety culture.
