Butler secures EASA approval for Class A TAWS on Learjet 35 and 36
The company has gained European approval after its FAA clearance, broadening the availability of its Garmin TAWS-A upgrade.

Butler Avionics has gained EASA approval for the Class A TAWS (Terrain Awareness and Warning System) upgrade on Learjet model 35/35A/36/36A aircraft.

The company already held FAA STC ST04538CH approval and now has EASA STC No. 10088109 covering installations of Garmin GTN 750/750Xi navigators.

The Class A TAWS provides three main alerting functions: Forward-Looking Terrain-Avoidance (FLTA), Premature Descent Alert (PDA), and Basic Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS).

“The Garmin TAWS-A works seamlessly with the GTN navigators, and the TAWS-A upgrade is a cost-effective solution that is ideal for Learjets,” says Patrick Hupp, avionics manager at Butler Avionics. “We are receiving many inquiries about the TAWS-A, and we are extremely pleased to offer Learjet operators worldwide a quality alternative with both EASA and FAA STC approval.”

Operators can purchase the upgrade directly from Butler Avionics or through licensed avionics facilities. Hupp adds that Butler is also focusing on regulatory solutions globally and expects to secure EASA approval for its non-halon fire extinguisher soon.
