Avcon gains FAA approval for Cessna 208 port
Approval adds a single camera or sensor port option on the Cessna 208, expanding mission capability and complementing earlier dual-port and sensor system certifications.
The addition of a single camera port on the Cessna 208 enhances operational flexibility and mission capability across mapping, search-and-rescue and reconnaissance missions.

Avcon Industries has received Federal Aviation Administration supplemental type certificate approval for a single camera or sensor port installation on Cessna 208 aircraft, adding a new option for special mission operators.

The STC, designated SA01975WI, enables installation of a port on the airframe, extending Avcon’s existing suite of approved modifications for the platform.

These include dual camera ports, a lower fuselage radar pod and a retractable sensor lift system, all aimed at supporting surveillance, mapping and reconnaissance missions.

“We’ve seen strong demand from operators for both the single and dual port or hole provisions on the Cessna 208,” says Marcus Abendroth, president of Avcon Industries. “This STC is another demonstration of our commitment to the Caravan market.”

Avcon plans to extend the single-port option to the Cessna 208B, further broadening the modification offering across the Caravan family.
