Blackhawk completes 2,000th delivery of PT6A engine upgrade

The company has spent over two decades upgrading turboprops with factory-fresh engines designed to boost safety, resale value and reliability.
Blackhawk’s PT6A upgrade allows owners to avoid full overhauls by installing new engines with improved performance and reduced costs.

The Blackhawk Group has delivered its 2,000th Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A engine since beginning operations in 1999. The upgrade programmes allow operators to replace ageing engines with factory-new PT6A units, which offer reduced downtime, lower operating costs and improved performance.

The PT6A engine has been a central part of general aviation for decades, with over 500 million flight hours logged. Blackhawk has partnered with operators of King Airs, Caravans, Cheyennes, TBMs and PC-12s to enhance payload, climb, speed and efficiency.

Chad Cundiff, CEO of The Blackhawk Group, says: “This milestone is more than a number, it's a reflection of the trust our customers place in us and the strength of our collaboration with Pratt & Whitney Canada.”

The XP Engine+ line includes PT6A-52, -61, -67A, -67P, -66D, -135A and -140 engines, all supplied with zero-time status and full warranties. The XP67A conversion for the King Air 300/350 series remains Blackhawk’s most significant performance enhancement.

TBG president Edwin Black said the achievement reflects their commitment to “more power, more performance and more value” while P&WC’s Cedric Gauthier credited Blackhawk with helping operators “get more performance and value out of their airframes.”
