The Blackhawk Group has been named exclusive distributor in North and South America for MT-Propeller’s Piper Meridian engine replacement programme. The Supplemental Type Certificate replaces the factory PT6A-42A engine with the lighter, more efficient Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-135A.

The upgrade also includes MT’s 5-blade MTV-27 Quiet Fan Jet composite propeller. Together, these allow cruise speeds of up to 258 KTAS, improved fuel economy, more payload and up to 1,340 NM range at 30,000 feet, as well as lower internal and external noise levels.

The STC kit includes the engine, propeller, new exhaust system, engine mounting hardware, airbox components and power control brackets. The Garmin EIS system is required.

MT-Propeller vice president Martin Albrecht says: “The Blackhawk Group was the obvious choice for this program in the Americas. Their deep expertise with PT6A upgrades, reputation for excellence and strong support network made them the ideal partner.”

Edwin Black, president of TBG’s Proprietary Upgrades division, adds: “This programme builds upon our success with the Finnoff Silent 7 programme to provide an option that combines performance, efficiency and value.”
