West Star gains satellite data STC for Global Express
This offers an optimal solution to operators that want to remove the classic Inmarsat system and replace it with a new, non-safety services Ka internet connectivity solution.
Read this story in our January 2023 printed issue.

US-based MRO specialist West Star Aviation is now offering an STC for the Latitude Technologies Corporation DL150 satellite data unit (SDU) and Iridium antenna on Bombardier Global Express (BD-700-1A10 and BD-700-1A11) aircraft.

The DL150, a TSO-159b approval unit, is a high performance ARINC 741 satellite data unit (SDU) for the Iridium network that meets AC20-140B guidance as an SDU for any aircraft needing to be FANS I/A+ compliant. The compact Iridium installation allows the connection of FANS/CPDLC out of VHF coverage after the Inmarsat system has been removed. This offers an optimal solution to operators that want to remove the classic Inmarsat system and replace it with a new, non-safety services Ka internet connectivity solution. The Iridium network is an ideal choice for global CPDLC, supporting the reliable delivery of data anywhere.

Installation takes approximately four weeks and can be completed at any of the four full-service West Star Aviation facilities at St Louis Regional airport in East Alton, Illinois; Grand Junction Regional airport in Colorado; Lovell Field in Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Perryville Regional airport in Missouri.
