Garmin FltPlan system receives a revamp
Integration between FltPlan.com and FltPlan SMS allows for information such as tail number, departure airport, scheduled arrival airport, landing airport and passenger count to be stored in a pilot’s FltPlan.com account.
FltPlan SMS is part of the greater FltPlan.com portfolio of aviation services from Garmin.

Garmin International has made updates to its FltPlan SMS that includes enhancements to the risk/hazard reports, allowing flight crews and ground personnel to more easily report items that have added risk to their flight operations. The modernised user interface provides a step-by-step process to collect essential information and enables safety managers with a structured means of safety risk management reporting and decision making. The more in-depth reporting structure allows flight departments to further improve their safety culture initiatives.

FltPlan SMS now offers six categories of risk/hazard reports, including cabin, dispatch, flight crew, ground, maintenance and other reports in a modern and easy-to-use format. This enhancement provides management with a systematic way to review a reported risk or hazard, identify the cause and determine corrective actions to avoid a future occurrence. The detailed reporting format allows flight departments and safety managers to more efficiently schedule meetings with relevant parties to discuss and review reported issues. An improved dashboard allows safety managers to more easily search and filter historical risk/hazard reports to better identify trends.

Seamless integration between FltPlan.com and FltPlan SMS allows for information such as tail number, departure airport, scheduled arrival airport, landing airport, passenger count and more to be stored in a pilot’s FltPlan.com account. Pilots can press a dedicated SMS button and transfer this important information into a risk/hazard report. The risk/hazard reports can be optionally submitted to NASA through the Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS) directly though FltPlan SMS. For flight departments that operate internationally, FltPlan SMS provides compliance to operators flying internationally to destinations where an SMS is required.

FltPlan SMS is part of the greater FltPlan.com portfolio of aviation services from Garmin. FltPlan.com allows pilots to take advantage of free web-based Flight Planning and flight management services and integrates SMS, runway analysis and international handling and services.
