Lufthansa unveils SkyRetreat cabin concept
A study for an Airbus A220 cabin envisions minimalistic design based on natural materials. Lufthansa Technik's VIP concept, SkyRetreat, offers open plan and versatile comfort above the clouds.

Lufthansa Technik has presented a full concept of its VIP cabin design SkyRetreat at the Monaco Yacht Show. The Airbus A220 cabin design study is based on natural materials and is dominated by a wooden floor, with cabin monuments enhanced by a number of modern technical features. The centrepiece is the observation deck that the company says, for the first time in VIP aviation, extends the passenger cabin seamlessly into the aircraft flight deck, allowing all occupants to enjoy unprecedented and totally immersive views.

High end technologies are discreetly integrated, from smart touch surfaces and a distinctive lighting concept to an open deck with a centre buffet. This multifunctional element allows for flexibility; a DJ console can be switched into a catering buffet or a gaming interface in seconds.

Senior director sales, VIP and special mission aircraft Wieland Timm says: “With its immersive observation deck and technical features, SkyRetreat provides a revolution when it comes to offering a unique and pure flying experience. Tailoring the concept to the Airbus A220, we are targeting an entirely new business section in which first time VIP jet owners in particular benefit from this extremly versatile VIP design for a reasonable investment.”

Aside from VIP completion capabilities, Lufthansa Technik already supports the Airbus A220 family with a comprehensive portfolio of services ranging from line maintenance and component services to engine services for its PW1500 geared turbofan engines.
