Aloft adds lab-as-a-service to test cabin tech before aircraft entry
Aloft AeroArchitects has launched a systems integration lab at its Georgetown, Delaware facility, offering OEMs and technology developers paid access to an aircraft-representative environment for pre-installation validation.

Aloft AeroArchitects has launched the Aloft Innovation Lab, a custom Systems Integration Lab (SIL) designed to accelerate the testing, validation and integration of emerging technologies within a realistic aircraft environment.

Aloft unveiled the Innovation Lab to attendees on Day 3 of the Red Cabin Business Jet and VIP Interiors Summit, which it hosted in Delaware, where guests got an exclusive first-hand look at the facility and live demonstrations of partner products currently being tested for market readiness.

Built to support Aloft's internal programmes while enabling collaboration with industry partners, the lab replicates the complex ecosystem of a connected aircraft. Technologies can be tested within both traditional aircraft architectures and the evolving MOSAIC ecosystem, allowing developers to evaluate interoperability, passenger experience, cabin functionality and system performance long before installation on an aircraft.

Demonstrations during the Summit included advanced audio solutions and Spectrum Network's AURA lighting technology, showcasing how innovations from both aviation and adjacent industries can be rapidly evaluated in a high-requirement aviation environment.

“We are challenging the aviation arena to keep up with modern technology by providing a space to collaborate and expedite new ideas,” says Matt Hill, chief commercial officer of Aloft AeroArchitects. “The Innovation Lab allows us and our partners to test these solutions in a realistic aircraft ecosystem, identify integration challenges early and significantly accelerate the path to market.”

The Innovation Lab is also being offered as lab-as-a-service (LaaS), providing OEMs, suppliers, technology developers and industry partners with access to a controlled aircraft-representative environment where they can rent lab space, equipment and technical resources to validate and integrate their products alongside existing aviation systems. By leveraging the lab's aircraft ecosystem and MOSAIC architecture, companies can shorten development cycles, improve product readiness, reduce integration risk and bring innovation to market more efficiently.

With Aloft's unique lab-as-a-service offering, interested parties can even see how their technology performs in an aircraft environment. LaaS provides companies access to the tools, expertise and aircraft-connected environment needed to validate emerging technologies before aircraft installation.

The Innovation Lab occupies a renovated 3,360 sq ft building at Delaware Coastal Business Park, held in reserve for Aloft by Sussex County despite competing interests and sited between the company's two existing buildings on the park. Aloft committed to improving the vacant structure over a five-year period.
