Aloft extends Galileo FDX STC to Boeing 737s
Operators of Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 aircraft can install Gogo Galileo FDX through turnkey installations in Delaware or kits supplied to qualified installers worldwide.
The first installation was on a BBJ 737-700IGW previously without connectivity.

Aloft AeroArchitects has received FAA approval for the installation of the Gogo Galileo FDX on Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

The models have been added to supplemental type certificate (STC) ST04815NY, which previously approved the BBJ 737-700. The amended STC broadens the availability of Gogo’s global, high-speed connectivity solution across additional Boeing platforms.

Issued in October 2025 under Aloft’s in-house Organisation Designation Authorisation (ODA), the original STC represented the industry’s first FAA approval for Gogo Galileo FDX connectivity on a BBJ platform. The inaugural installation was completed on a customer’s BBJ 737-700IGW that had previously been without connectivity, with Gogo’s FlightDeck Freedom datalink service also activated to support crew operations. Since then, Aloft has supported multiple Galileo FDX installations from its Georgetown, Delaware facility and supplied installation kits to authorised dealers and integration partners worldwide.

Galileo FDX runs on the Eutelsat OneWeb low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation, delivering up to 195Mbps download and 32Mbps upload speeds throughout the cabin. The system comprises two line-replaceable units: a full-duplex, flat-panel electronically steered antenna and either an SDR Gateway or AVANCE router. This keeps installation minimally invasive and reduces downtime. When the first STC was issued, Gogo put the number of BBJ 737s regularly flying international legs at around 200 aircraft.

Scott Meyer, CEO of Aloft AeroArchitects, says: “As demand for reliable, global broadband connectivity continues to grow, this amendment provides operators with a streamlined path to integrating the latest generation of satellite communications technology.”

Aloft offers FAA-certified Galileo FDX installation solutions through turnkey installations at its Delaware Coastal Airport facility and installation kits for qualified installers worldwide. Operators interested in upgrading can submit an enquiry through Aloft’s support portal to confirm STC applicability and discuss installation options.
