Velocity Maintenance Solutions triples Wilmington footprint
Velocity Maintenance Solutions is moving into a 75,000 sq ft facility at Wilmington airport in Delaware, doubling its hangar space eight months after Bombardier acquired the Delaware-based MRO through Learjet.

Velocity Maintenance Solutions (Velocity), an FAA-certified provider of MRO services, has commenced a major expansion of its hangar facilities at its headquarters at Wilmington airport in Delaware.

Velocity currently operates a 20,000 sq ft hangar facility at ILG and is preparing to move into a neighbouring 75,000 sq ft facility, with 40,000 sq ft of hangar space. The new location will double the company's hangar footprint, providing significantly greater capacity to support scheduled maintenance, inspections and other MRO work. The move is expected to be complete by the end of the month. As Velocity continues to expand its capabilities and customer base, the company also expects to grow its workforce over the next 12 to 18 months, adding certified technicians and other aviation professionals in the Wilmington area.

Velocity offers AOG support, scheduled maintenance, avionics, pre-buy inspections, non-destructive testing, state-of-the-art digital dent assessment and mapping, and parts procurement. The company also operates a fleet of 14 mobile repair team trucks that provide nationwide coverage, with emphasis on the east coast. Trucks are based at ILG, Teterboro, Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International, Scottsdale, Cincinnati Municipal – Lunken Field and Cleveland Hopkins International airports.

“The expansion of our facilities at ILG represents an important next step in Velocity's continued growth,” says Bryan Weiss, CEO, Velocity Maintenance Solutions. “Moving from our current 20,000 sq ft hangar into a 75,000 sq ft facility gives our team substantially more capacity and flexibility to support our customers, expand our scheduled maintenance capabilities and accommodate larger and more complex projects.”

Michael Baker, president of Velocity Maintenance Solutions, adds: “Our team has considerable experience supporting all principal business aircraft OEMs, including Bombardier, Gulfstream, Dassault Falcon, Textron and Embraer. We have built our operation around safety, quality, responsiveness and service excellence. The additional space at ILG will allow us to support more aircraft simultaneously, improve workflow and turnaround times, and continue expanding the level of service we provide to both existing and prospective customers.”

Velocity has been a subsidiary of Bombardier since its acquisition by the OEM at the start of the year. The ILG expansion is part of a broader push by Bombardier to grow its aftermarket footprint. Alongside the Velocity move, the OEM has announced a new 64,500 sq ft service centre at Fort Wayne International airport, due to open in the second half of 2026, a $50m investment in Wichita wheel-and-tire and technician-training facilities, and a planned 250,000 sq ft Singapore centre with construction set for 2026 and operations from 2028.
