The Blackhawk Group has launched a mobile support service based at its Avex Performance Center at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (KBJC) in Broomfield, Colorado, providing maintenance and technical support directly to customers’ aircraft, particularly those in Colorado and the surrounding areas.
The service is built around dedicated maintenance vehicles equipped to address a wide range of unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting needs. It is aimed particularly at the group’s TBM and Cirrus customers, who largely operate their aircraft personally and rely on its Performance Center network to keep their aircraft flying. Owners and operators can call on aircraft technicians when an aircraft cannot easily be brought to a maintenance facility, helping reduce downtime and return aircraft to service as efficiently as possible.
The mobile support team is equipped to provide engine borescope inspections, light engine maintenance, fault isolation and troubleshooting, avionics support, landing gear, wheel, tyre and brake maintenance, control surface work, aircraft system servicing and select propeller changes. The service will continue to develop as additional tooling and capabilities are added.
The programme has already completed its first mobile support mission for an AOG operator, with the Broomfield team deploying into the field to provide aircraft support away from a base maintenance facility.
Chad Cundiff, CEO of The Blackhawk Group, says: “Our customers operate on their own schedules and maintenance needs don’t always arise conveniently near one of our facilities. This new mobile capability brings the experience and technical resources of our Performance Center network directly to the aircraft, wherever it is.”
Cundiff adds: “Every hour matters when an aircraft is grounded. Bringing our technicians and capabilities into the field gives our customers another option to get the support they need and get their aircraft back in the air where it belongs.”
The Blackhawk Group’s MRO network supports high-end piston, turboprop and light jet aircraft across seven international locations. These comprise Avex Performance Centers for the Daher TBM and Blackhawk Performance Centers for all other aircraft types. Services across the network include routine and heavy maintenance, avionics support and modernisation, engine and airframe installations and other work to support continued airworthiness and efficient operations.
