Jet Aviation has launched its automated drone and Artificial Intelligence (AI) inspection technology for non-regulated aircraft inspections in the United States.
The inspection reports are designed to support services including pre-purchase inspections (PPIs) along with insurance and warranty cases.
Jet Aviation first introduced the automated drone and AI inspection technology at its maintenance, repair and overhaul hub and global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, in 2023 in partnership with Donecle. In 2024, the process received approval from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) for general visual inspections (GVIs) using images.
The company says expanding the service into the US forms part of its wider innovation strategy across its global network. Managed and fixed-base operator (FBO) customers in the US can now access digital reports that map the exterior surface of aircraft for reference and operational events including PPIs and warranty cases.
“We are incredibly excited to work with our colleagues in Europe to bring this new and unique service to our customers in the US,” says David Best, senior vice president regional operations and GM Americas, Jet Aviation. “Our team is committed to listening to and working closely with our customers to grow our regional offering in ways that make a real difference to the owner and operator experience. The drone and AI technology offers our managed and FBO customers additional peace of mind, providing an accurate, comprehensive, digitised report of the exterior of the aircraft for their records now and in the future. We look forward to continuing to explore this service and bringing even more innovative solutions to customers in the region.”
