Avincis grows Canary's ambulance network with third base
An expanded helicopter fleet and Fuerteventura base improve coverage across eastern islands, supporting faster emergency response for residents and visitors.
Each aircraft is crewed by Avincis pilots and supported by specialised SUC medical teams.

Avincis has secured a contract to expand advanced air medical transport services across the Canary Islands, extending a long-running partnership with the region’s emergency response network.

The company has supported the Canary Islands Emergency Service, Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC), for more than two decades, delivering helicopter-based medical response across the archipelago. The latest agreement builds on that role, maintaining advanced life support operations while adding capacity in key locations.

Central to the expansion is a new medical helicopter base in Fuerteventura, already operational, which increases the network from two to three bases. Alongside Tenerife and Gran Canaria, the additional base strengthens coverage in the eastern islands and improves response times for both residents and tourists.

Operations will be carried out using three EC145 C2 helicopters configured for advanced life support missions. Each aircraft is crewed by Avincis pilots and equipped with electromedical systems that enable complex medical care to be delivered during flight, working alongside specialised medical teams from SUC.

John Boag, Avincis Group CEO, says: “This contract reinforces our long-standing partnership with SUC and underscores our shared commitment to safeguarding communities through fast, high-quality emergency medical response.”
