SERE Aviation Group, which incorporates Northern Ireland-based companies 247 Aviation, Jet Assist and Woodgate Aviation, has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of James McKnight as chief operating officer.

McKnight brings more than 20 years of experience in the aviation industry and has played a key role in the development of 247 Aviation since its inception, most recently as director of flight operations. Under his leadership, 247 has grown into a leading aero medical transport provider, operating a fleet of Pilatus and Learjet aircraft.

The appointment follows the strategic acquisition in November 2025 of full service business and general aviation company Woodgate Aviation, a move that has defined the growth of SERE Aviation Group, and comes after Jet Assist's significant expansion over 2025, including the attainment of its FBO base in Northern Ireland at Belfast City airport and enhanced executive charter services.

In his new role, McKnight will oversee operations across all SERE Aviation brands, focusing on driving operational efficiency, developing talent and supporting the group's continued growth.

He says: “I am thrilled to step into the role of chief operating officer at SERE Aviation Group. Having been part of 247 Aviation from the beginning, I am incredibly proud of what we have built together and excited for the opportunity to continue the development of the SERE Aviation Group. I look forward to working closely with our talented and committed teams to build our presence in new markets while further strengthening Northern Ireland's aviation industry on a global stage.”

Stanley Edgar, CEO of SERE Aviation Group, adds: “James's experience as director of flight operations and his long-standing dedication to 247 Aviation make him the ideal choice to lead operations across the group. He brings not only technical expertise but also a deep understanding of how to nurture talent and build strong, high-performing teams. With James on board, we are confident in our ability to continue growing across our brands while maintaining the highest operational standards and supporting the development of our people.”
