Abu Dhabi Airports and Skyports advance vertiport network
Construction has begun on two initial sites at Zayed International (AUH) and Al Bateen Executive (AZI) as part of a plan to develop more than ten vertiports supporting air taxi operations.

Abu Dhabi Airports and Skyports Infrastructure have begun construction of two vertiports at Zayed International (AUH) and Al Bateen Executive (AZI), forming the first part of a wider advanced air mobility network in the emirate. The build is due to complete in Q1 2026. Over ten sites will be developed across Abu Dhabi.

Skyports will contribute design and operational expertise, working with Abu Dhabi Airports on construction, engineering and installation of vertiport equipment. Both partners plan to co-operate the vertiports after completion, handling passenger services, security and cargo while integrating with eVTOL operators.

“This partnership represents a pivotal moment for Abu Dhabi's mobility landscape,” says Elena Sorlini, managing director and CEO at Abu Dhabi Airports. “We are laying the concrete foundations for an emirate-wide advanced air mobility network.”

Skyports CEO Duncan Walker says the project is “a key component of Abu Dhabi's AAM strategy” and that Skyports will “apply our previous knowledge and expertise and help bring the benefits of AAM to the UAE’s largest emirate.”

Abu Dhabi Airports is also working with Beta Technologies, which is supplying charging systems and battery thermal management for the AUH and AZI vertiports. Installation has begun at Al Bateen, with Zayed International to follow.

Chad Nichols, charge operations lead at Beta, says: “Ours is the world's first and only certified electric aviation charging and thermal management solution, and we are excited to work with Abu Dhabi Airports to deploy it throughout the region.”
