The City of Killeen's Aviation Department has opened its new FBO facility, Skylark Field Terminal, to welcome travellers to Central Texas. The facility, located at Skylark Field airport, officially opened its doors on 10 October.
The 3,000 sq ft terminal was built from the ground up, creating a space that elevates the travel experience and enhances operational efficiency for the Central Texas aviation community. With modern amenities and a welcoming atmosphere, the new facility represents a major milestone in the city's ongoing commitment to excellence in aviation service.
“We're excited to welcome travellers and the community to experience all that our new facility has to offer,” says Mike Wilson, executive director of aviation for the City of Killeen Aviation Department. “This opening marks a new chapter of exceptional service and comfort at Skylark Field Airport, and we look forward to sharing it with everyone who walks through our doors.”
The FBO's beautifully designed exterior instantly invites travellers inside where they enjoy a bright, spacious reception area, comfortable pilot and passenger lounges, a well-equipped meeting room and a modern kitchen offering complimentary refreshments. Every detail has been designed with functionality and comfort in mind, ensuring a first-class experience for every guest.
Beyond the facility itself, sustainability and education are central to operations. The terminal features solar panels and charging stations to reduce its environmental footprint, while also expanding opportunities for students at Central Texas College to complete their flight instructor certifications.
Skylark Field Airport is a general aviation airfield featuring a 5,495 ft runway, 24-hour self-service Jet A and 100LL fuel, and efficient line service. Its 48 hangars can accommodate up to 64 locally-based aircraft, from single engine types up to a King Air 250.
With its opening, the City of Killeen also introduces Avfuel to the airfield. As an Avfuel-branded partner, the FBO provides customers with AVTRIP rewards and competitive prices with Avfuel Contract Fuel. Customers will also benefit from transaction ease when using the Avfuel Pro Card at its FBO with the ability to put everything, including fuel and non-fuel items with or without a fuel purchase, on one transaction, avoiding processing fees. The City of Killeen also owns the Killeen Regional Airport (GRK), an Avfuel-branded partner that participates in the Avfuel Contract Fuel Program and accepts the Avfuel Pro Card.
