Coptersafety and TRU Simulation signed an agreement for a new AW139 Level D full flight simulator for Coptersafety’s training centre next to Helsinki International Airport. It marks the second AW139 simulator from TRU Simulation at the Finnish facility.

Like the first TRU-built AW139 Phase 7 simulator, the new device will include advanced avionics, realistic flight dynamics and high-fidelity visual systems replicating operational environments. Motion, vibration cues and smoke generation will further enhance immersion for pilots training for offshore, search and rescue and emergency medical services missions.

“I’m happy to announce that Coptersafety has been able to secure this additional capability to its growing fleet of simulators,” says Coptersafety COO Toni Rönnberg. “This is to ensure we can continue serving the growing demand of our customers with the best quality of training.”

“We’re pleased to continue supporting Coptersafety’s training programmes with another AW139 simulator, designed to meet the highest level of qualification,” adds TRU Simulation’s director of sales and customer service Vance Ontjes. “This next-generation device reflects our commitment to advancing pilot readiness through immersive and realistic simulation that is tailored to Coptersafety’s specific needs.”

The simulator will be qualified to Level D by EASA, the UK CAA and the FAA, with other aviation authorities also expected to approve it. Training is planned to begin during the first half of 2027.
