Astronics buys Envoy to strengthen certification services
The $8 million deal added nine members of staff and gave Astronics more control over STCs and PMAs at a time of constrained supply.

Astronics has acquired Envoy Aerospace, an FAA Organisation Designation Authorisation services provider based in Aurora, Illinois. The move enhances Astronics’ ability to manage certification processes in-house, including supplemental type certificates and parts manufacturer approvals.

Envoy's nine employees have joined the Astronics team. The company will integrate Envoy’s activities into its wider operations while continuing to support existing programmes. Astronics sees strategic benefit in having direct access to ODA services, particularly as demand rises for connectivity upgrades, cabin changes and lease return modifications.

Envoy brings long-standing experience in aircraft and rotorcraft type certification and has a track record of securing FAA design approvals and foreign type acceptance.

Envoy Aerospace’s extensive experience and trusted reputation as an ODA make it a perfect fit for Astronics,” says Mike Kuehn, president of Astronics Connectivity Systems and Certifications. “This will enable dedicated access to ODA services for our collective Astronics and Envoy customers.”

Adrian Honer, partner at Envoy Aerospace, adds: “Joining the Astronics team aligns with our mission to advance aviation safety and innovation... we’re excited to grow and further strengthen a highly skilled ODA services team.”
