Heritage Aviation has begun supplying sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport in Vermont, becoming Avfuel Corporation’s first Northeast-based branded FBO to do so. Heritage Aviation, a 100% employee-owned FBO and FAA-certified 145 repair station, received its first SAF load in February.
The company celebrated this milestone by hosting Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak and airport director Nic Longo at its LEED Gold Standard facility on March 21. The visit highlighted Heritage’s commitment to sustainable aviation and community investment.
Heritage’s SAF is supplied by Avfuel and produced by Diamond Green Diesel LLC using the HEFA SPK process. It is made from lipids such as used cooking oil and, in its neat form, can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%. When blended at quantities of 30% SAF and 70% jet fuel, it can reduce emissions by up to 24%.
CEO Matthew Collins said: “We were honoured to welcome Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak to our facility, showcasing the dedication and expertise of our employee-owners and our commitment to sustainability and the next generation of fuel.”
During the visit, guests met with employee-owners to learn more about the company’s services, sustainability initiatives and culture of shared ownership.
Avfuel’s executive vice president C.R. Sincock, II said: “We are proud to partner with Heritage Aviation, Avfuel’s premier branded FBO partner in Burlington, Vermont (KBTV), to bring SAF to the Northeast. It’s a testament to the FBO’s pioneering spirit and commitment to its community and sustainability efforts.”
