MT-Propeller’s seven-blade Silent 7 propeller has received FAA and EASA supplemental type certificates for installation on Beech King Air 300, 300LW, B300 and B300C series aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney PT6A-60A or -67A turbines. The certification also covers aircraft modified with the Blackhawk XP67 engine conversion.
Flight testing began in 2023 to expand certification to this aircraft type following the system’s initial approval for the Pilatus PC-12 in 2020. More than 130 PC-12s already fly with the Silent 7.
MT-Propeller vice president Martin Albrecht says the installation brings “general performance improvement (8% take-off and climb), no propeller speed restrictions on ground while operating in low idle, lower ITTs at high altitude, allowing a top speed increase up to 6 ktas or longer engine life”.
He adds that there is also “unbeatable aesthetic ramp appeal” and a “significant cabin noise and vibration reduction”.
All certified aircraft meet Germany’s 2010 Landeplatz Lärmschutz Verordnung for unrestricted airport use. The smaller diameter design of the Silent 7 offers increased ground clearance, reduced blade erosion and protection from foreign object damage.
The composite blades have no life limit, are repairable, and feature bonded nickel alloy leading edges. Their vibration damping properties ensure near vibration-free performance.
MT-Propeller produces more than 30 models of natural composite propellers, has over 220 STCs and supplies over 90% of European aircraft OEMs. A global network of 62 certified service centres supports more than 33,000 systems in operation.
