Banyan Air Service at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport has begun offering sustainable aviation fuel, joining a small number of FBOs in south Florida adopting SAF from the Port Everglades supply point.
The SAF, delivered via Avfuel, is blended at 30 per cent SAF to 70 per cent traditional jet fuel. It meets ASTM D-1655 standards, requiring no modifications to aircraft or infrastructure. When blended at this level, SAF can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 24%. Unblended, SAF can lower lifecycle emissions by as much as 80%, making it a key tool in aviation’s carbon reduction efforts.
“Offering SAF is a monumental step for Banyan and the aviation community at FXE,” says Banyan Air Service COO Jon Tonko. “As the most effective way to reduce the environmental footprint of aviation today, SAF aligns with Banyan's commitment to innovation, sustainability and supporting our customers in their efforts to fly greener.”
Customers can access SAF through Avfuel Contract Fuel, with supporting emissions documentation available for reporting purposes.
