W Aviation has signed a 30-year lease agreement with the City of Fort Lauderdale, securing more than 13 acres at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE) and paving the way for a significant expansion of its aviation facilities.
The South Florida FBO, a member of the AEG Connect network, is moving forward with an infrastructure expansion programme designed to meet increasing demand for aircraft storage, ramp capacity and aircraft handling services in the region. The work will include two 20,000sq ft high-tail hangars engineered for large-cabin and ultra-long-range business aircraft, nearly three additional acres of aircraft ramp space, enhanced airside infrastructure and aircraft movement areas, plus continued modernisation of the property.
Available land for aviation development at KFXE is limited, so W Aviation is redesigning its existing leasehold to create the additional infrastructure within an already highly developed airport environment.
Ignacio Martinez, CEO of W Aviation, says: “This new 30-year lease marks an exciting chapter for W Aviation and reflects our confidence in the future of Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and the South Florida business aviation market.”
He adds: “We are extremely proud of what we have built and grateful to the City of Fort Lauderdale for the opportunity to continue investing in the airport and our community for the next 30 years.”
W Aviation already operates a 20,000-plus sq ft executive terminal at KFXE, featuring private VIP guest lounges, a spa-quality fitness centre, a Formula 1 racing simulator and entertainment arcade, a conference room for up to 15 guests and on-site hotel-style accommodation for pilots, flight crews and guests. Its five hangars include high-tail space capable of accommodating the largest ultra-long-range business jets, along with facilities tailored to midsize and other corporate aircraft. The FBO serves Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach and the wider South Florida business community.
