Diamond integrates Volocopter to enter electric air mobility
The reorganisation follows Volocopter's recent restructuring and efforts to secure funding for its VoloCity certification.

Diamond Aircraft Group Austria has integrated Volocopter, the eVTOL developer based in Bruchsal, Germany, into its operations. Volocopter will remain headquartered in Germany and continue working toward certification of its VoloCity aircraft by 2025.

The move is intended to enable to Diamond expand into electric urban air mobility while supporting Volocopter in reducing costs, keeping skilled employees and focusing on long-term development. Diamond chairman Bin Chen says: “The future of aviation is shaped by visionaries. Together, we are laying the foundation to advance sustainable air mobility and strengthen Europe as an innovation hub in aviation.”

The transition follows Volocopter GmbH’s filing for insolvency on 26 December 2024 with the Karlsruhe Local Court, which appointed Tobias Wahl of Anchor Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH as provisional insolvency administrator. Volocopter will continue business operations while pursuing investment and a restructuring concept, expected by the end of February, to secure financing for its final steps toward market entry.

Tobias Wahl, insolvency administrator at Anchor Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, adds: “Volocopter's expertise and highly motivated team have consistently set benchmarks in the eVTOL industry. With Diamond Aircraft, we have found a strong strategic partner who will build on this foundation.”
