NBAA operators conference addresses global challenges
Industry experts gathered to share insights on cybersecurity, regulatory changes and sustainability at IOC2025 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
IOC2025 brought together aviation professionals from 20 countries and 38 U.S. states and territories.

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) International Operators Conference (IOC2025) brought together business aviation professionals from 20 countries and 38 U.S. states and territories for three days of discussions on international operations, mission planning and industry challenges.

“More than ever before, NBAA's International Operators Conference uniquely gathered the most highly sought-after sources, provided meaningful business and networking opportunities and helped ensure a global industry has the tools for global operations,” says Laura Everington, NBAA director of flight operations and regulations.

Sessions covered a broad range of topics, including GPS jamming, cybersecurity risks, evolving fees and taxes and geopolitical concerns. NBAA board member Mark McIntyre delivered the keynote, drawing from his experiences as an international pilot.

Pilots, flight planners and operations specialists provided region-specific guidance, while experts in U.S. Customs and Border Protection, avionics, security, wellness and sustainability shared best practices. “The presentations for operating in various international regions are incredibly valuable,” says Part 91 contract pilot Steve Austin, who frequently flies in the Asia-Pacific and Europe.

Solairus senior flight dispatcher Vanessa Fuentes found the session on permits and slots particularly helpful, saying it will allow her to better coordinate travel and set expectations. Sustainability was also a key focus, with experts addressing strategies for reducing aviation’s carbon footprint.

IOC committee member Scott M. “Scotty” Harrold received the Guy Gribble IOC Appreciation Award for service to NBAA's International Operators Committee. The committee also announced eight recipients of the 2025 International Operators Scholarships.

The next NBAA International Operators Conference will take place March 2-4, 2026, in San Diego, California.
