StandardAero is developing a supplemental type certificate (STC) for Gogo Galileo HDX on select Bombardier Challenger 600 and Global series aircraft, with availability expected this year. The certification will enable operators to install Gogo Business Aviation’s latest inflight connectivity solution, which leverages Eutelsat OneWeb’s Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellite network to provide high-speed internet across all routes.
StandardAero’s certification will cover over 2,000 aircraft, including Challenger 601, 604, 605 and 650 models, as well as Global Express XRS, 5000, 6000, 6500 and 7500 series aircraft. The FAA STC will be the first approval, with EASA and TCCA validations to follow.
Tony Brancato, StandardAero engine services - business aviation division president, says: “We're excited to further expand our partnership with Gogo by developing Galileo HDX STCs onboard select Challenger and Global aircraft. This is a testament to Gogo's trust in our airframe modification certification services and the StandardAero team as a whole to deliver quality avionics support to our customers.”
StandardAero’s Springfield, Illinois site will develop the STC and complete the first installation, with future installations available at its service centres in Augusta, Georgia; Houston, Texas; Springfield, Illinois; and Van Nuys, California.
Brian Campbell, SVP of sales, marketing and customers for business aviation at StandardAero, adds: “There are over 300 Gogo Avance-equipped Challenger 600 and Global aircraft in the market that could easily make the next step to upgrade to Galileo and achieve maximum inflight internet performance on board for their passengers. We're excited to provide Challenger 600 and Global operators with another avionics solution to enhance their aircraft operations.”
Operators can contact StandardAero for details on upgrading their aircraft. A $25,000 rebate is available for a limited time for Gogo customers transitioning from legacy air-to-ground systems.
