The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is reviewing proposed updates to the Transportation Security Agency’s (TSA) Twelve-Five Standard Security Program (TFSSP) for public charter flights under 14 CFR Part 380 and FAR Part 135. The TSA announced the changes earlier this month after a lengthy development process.
“NBAA is carefully analysing the TSA's changes to public charter security,” says NBAA senior vice president, safety, security, sustainability and international operations Doug Carr. “Because of the classified nature of the TFSSP, we cannot comment on the details of our internal review, but we look forward to working with TSA to ensure the new programme requirements are workable for the diverse operational profile of our sector, and that operators clearly understand the new mandates.”
The TFSSP, which applies to aircraft exceeding 12,500 pounds in maximum certified takeoff weight, provides security measures for operators. The updates follow a review last year by the TSA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in response to calls from industry stakeholders for protocols more closely aligned with airline security standards.
