TAG goes greener with ITW GSE's electric GPU
TAG says the introduction of ITW GSE's eGPU will not only reduce ground emissions, but its battery power and low maintenance costs make economical sense.
TAG’s new ITW GSE 7400 eGPU is battery-powered, expels zero emissions, is silent and requires almost no maintenance.

TAG Maintenance Services has selected ITW GSE's new generation GSE 7400 eGPU for its ground power requirements. The commercial battery-powered ground power unit provides 400Hz/115V and is capable of supporting the full range of business aviation aircraft currently in service.

The GSE 7400 is the first electric GPU to be used at Geneva airport, and the first to be acquired by a European business aviation MRO provider. It was delivered and tested in May 2021.

“We put ITW's eGPU through extensive trials and were extremely impressed by its efficiency and versatility,” says TAG vice president of maintenance operations Cyrille Pillet. “The unit can perform several turnarounds before it needs recharging, and its quietness and pollution-free operation make it popular among employees and operators alike.”

The company says a traditional diesel GPU typically represents more than 40 per cent of the total CO2 footprint generated by aircraft ground support equipment. Introduction of the eGPU will not only reduce ground emissions, but thanks to its battery power and low maintenance costs will also make sense economically.
