Elliott Aviation amends STC and improves AOG
Elliott Aviation is now authorised to install the Mid-Continent MD-302 on Garmin and Honeywell-equipped Excel and XLS aircraft. It is also expanding AOG work to include Hawkers, King Airs, Citations, Phenoms and Legacys.

Avionics retrofitter Elliott Aviation has amended its STC to install the Mid-Continent electronic standby MD-302, so that it now includes Garmin G5000 and Honeywell-equipped Citation Excel and XLS aircraft. The STC utilises the Mid-Continent MD32 magnetometer to provide heading input to the MD-302 electronic standby instrument, which comes standard in Elliott's G5000 installations for the Excel and XLS. The original STC of the MD-302 installation was issued in August of 2019, and the certificate was amended in conjunction with Garmin's phase 1 of Citation Excel/XLS G5000 installations, which offers Garmin AHRS as a replacement to the existing Litif 93 and 100 AHRS. This replacement lis designed to lead to lower cost of maintenance and better reliability.

Elliott Aviation includes the Mid-Continent MD-302 as standard in all of its Garmin G5000 and G1000 NXi installations. It has completed over 50 Garmin G5000 retrofits, which includes the Citation Excel/XLS and the Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP, which is more than any other dealer. It has also installed more Garmin G1000/G1000NXi retrofits in King Airs than all other dealers in the world combined.

“We are continually looking for ways to improve our customers' experience,” says Conrad Theisen, director of avionics sales. “Adding heading display to our Mid-Continent MD-302 STC adds another level of functionality that our Citation Excel and XLS customers are looking for.”

Installation of the MD-302 in the Citation Excel and XLS can be completed with or without the Garmin G5000 avionics suite at Elliott Aviation's facilities in Moline, Illinois and Des Moines, Iowa. Elliott also has one-stop-shop maintenance, avionics, paint, interior and accessories capabilities at its headquarters in Moline, Illinois.

In other news, Elliott has expanded its AOG capabilities to include Hawker, King Air, Citation, Embraer Phenom and Embraer Legacy types. The expansion is in response to the continued demand for its services on these airframes, which were previously only marketed to the Phenom 100 and 300. Elliott Aviation's AOG technicians are factory trained and are available for maintenance and avionics issues.

“For over a year, we've been successfully assisting AOG customers for Phenom 100 and 300,” explains Michael Parrish, VP of maintenance, paint and interior sales at Elliott Aviation. “Based on the success of that programme, we're happy to increase our capabilities to other airframe operators.”

Elliott Aviation is an authorised service centre for Phenom 100/300, Legacy 450/500, Hawker 125 series, Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP, King Air, Premier I/IA, and TBM. Its is also a Part 145 repair station for Challenger 300/604/605, Lear 45/60 and Citation types.
