Luxivair committed to reducing carbon footprint
The floor to ceiling glass doesn't just look good, it is also good for the environment. This and other initiatives are being put in place as Luxivair looks to minimise its environmental impact.
Making the most of natural light in San Bernardino.

Luxivair SBD at San Bernardino International airport is to make a number of significant investments in environmentally-friendly technologies that will help reduce its carbon footprint. The FBO is committed to minimising the impact of its operations and to providing a greener alternative to increasingly eco-conscious customers.

New alternative-fuelled vehicles and ground support equipment at Luxivair contribute fewer, even zero, emissions. The FBO recently expanded its private rental fleet to include four 2019 Toyota Mirai luxury sedans. The hydrogen fuel-cell cars boast zero emissions. Behind the scenes, electric-powered pushback tugs move aircraft away from gates, a new forklift is fuelled by propane and other new ground equipment, including two fuel trucks, is compliant with the highest standards set by South Coast Air Quality Management District and the state of California.

All lighting on the airfield and in large hangar bays has been converted to energy-efficient LEDs, while the FBO's lobby and other amenities were purposefully designed to take advantage of natural light with wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows. Newly installed solar panels help power operations, with no negative effects on the environment.

Luxivair has long recognised the importance of eco-friendly business practices. “As the premier FBO in southern California, Luxivair SBD takes its responsibility to the environment, to its customers, and to the community very seriously," says San Bernardino International airport director of aviation Mark Gibbs. “While the FBO isn't 100 per cent green yet, it's making great strides, and remains committed to doing its part to reduce the effects of its operations while delivering the quality expected by customers.”
