C&L's ADS-B STC gains European approval
It's all systems go for Saab 340 customers of C&L Aviation Services who are preparing to meet the EASA ADS-B Out mandate. The company has already made sales of the kit following its FAA approval.
C&L Aviation Group has received EASA approval for its Saab 340 ADS-B Out solution STC.

C&L Aviation Services has received EASA approval for its Saab 340 A&B ADS-B solution. The STC certifies the installation of dual Garmin GTX-3000 transponders and uses either the Garmin GDL-88 SBAS/WAAS GPS or Universal Avionics SBAS/WAAS FMS GPSs, including the UNS-1Ew, UNS-1Espw, UNS-1Lw, and UNS-1Fw FMS systems, to comply with the FAA ADS/B-Out mandate. The FAA requires compliance before 1 January, 2020 and EASA by 7 June, 2020.

C&L has already received FAA approval for use of the STC and has since sold over 20 kits to customers looking for an ADS-B solution.

“With the deadline looming, I'm glad to see EASA certification come through swiftly for this solution,” says CEO Chris Kilgour. “The solution has been ideal for many already and we look forward to being able to now offer it for our European customers.”

This is the first STC approval C&L has generated using its in-house engineering company, C&L Engineering Services. The company is working on several other STC projects, including ADS-B solutions for other regional and corporate aircraft types.

C&L Aviation Group is an FAA and EASA approved industry leader in servicing, maintaining, and supporting operators in the corporate and regional aviation industry. In addition to aircraft and engine sales and leasing programmes, C&L offers parts support, heavy maintenance, interior refurbishment, aircraft teardown, disassembly services and aircraft management. It is headquartered in Bangor, Maine with international offices in Australia and Europe.
