Air Culinaire boosts efficiency with mobile app
'Menu fatigue' is cited as a common problem for business aviation in-flight caterers. To keep menus and ideas fresh and current, Air Culinaire Worldwide has launched a new app that will provide inspiration to crews.

Air Culinaire Worldwide has launched a new mobile app enabling clients to access to global menus, in-flight catering tools and culinary resources. Content will be available for download onto users' mobile devices to facilitate offline access, such as when working on a flight without wi-fi availability, providing a solution to an issue often faced by catering clients.

“The app serves several purposes and was developed to minimise menu fatigue, which is a challenge for everyone in business aviation,” says senior VP of sales and marketing Paul Schweitzer. “First and foremost, it provides users with a wide range of menus to consider that are popular alternatives to the routine items commonly ordered. Secondly, it provides Air Culinaire Worldwide with the opportunity to update or change menus frequently and have those menu items available instantly on the app.

“Lastly, we incorporated a variety of tools and resources that are used by in-flight culinary professionals around the world. We look forward to receiving user feedback and will make enhancements over time, so the app becomes one of your favourite catering resources.”

The app comes with a set of menus available at a variety of destinations frequented during private aviation trips that are served by Air Culinaire Worldwide kitchens or Air Culinaire Worldwide network vendors. In addition, a library of in-flight catering tools and culinary resources are pre-loaded in the app to further educate users in upscale plating techniques, cultural influences on cuisine, food safety and other best practices.

“As technology continues to move forward, flight crews want everything at their fingertips,” explains VP of flight attendant services John Detloff. “This app will allow crews to access numerous helpful tools and resources when it comes to their catering needs and questions, and will also allow you to streamline your email when placing an order with us with a click of a button while being able to adjust the order to fit passenger need.

“The Air Culinaire Worldwide team will continue to create more tools and resources for the app as we move forward in creating a valuable resource for the flight crew community. This is only the beginning in what we have planned in supporting flight crews around the world.”
