Jet Aviation gains FAA STC for ADS-B Out
The FAA has issued an STC for Jet Aviation's Boeing 747 ADS-B Out solution, an improvement on the current radar-based systems with more accurate real-time position information.
Jet Aviation's facility in Basel is now authorised to configure and install ADS-B Out systems on N-registered B747 aircraft.

Jet Aviation has received FAA supplemental type certification for ADS-B Out compliance for the B747 series aircraft following EASA approval in August this year.

ADS-B Out systems provide digital surveillance data that enhances situational awareness. Subject to specific equipment configurations, this approval authorises Jet Aviation's MRO and completions facility in Basel to configure and install ADS-B Out systems on N-registered B747 aircraft.

“We worked hard to develop and gain approval for our STC well ahead of the mandated deadlines to ensure our customers have time to demonstrate ADS-B Out compliance,” says Basel-based director of programme management for large aircraft Estelle Thorin. “Customers appreciate our commitment to the highest safety and security standards and value our experience and expertise. As private jets are required to fly in ADS-B airspace, we are very pleased to extend this service offering to owners and operators of Boeing B747 aircraft.”
