The Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. service center in Appleton, Wis., recently earned approved maintenance organization (AMO) designations from China and Nigeria.

With these authorizations, various model aircraft registered with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) can undergo maintenance, repairs, alterations and inspections at Gulfstream's Appleton facility.

Gulfstream Appleton is the third company-owned service center to earn AMO approval from the CAAC, joining Gulfstream Savannah and Gulfstream Long Beach in California.

"Foreign authorizations are important to our customers, particularly from countries such as China where our fleet has grown from zero to more than 40 in about 11 years," said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream Product Support. "Chinese operators who are in the United States for business or leisure now can have their aircraft serviced on the East Coast, West Coast and Midwest. The more options we give operators, the better we can serve them."

The aircraft covered by Appleton's CAAC certificate are the Gulfstream G550, G450, GV, GV-SP, GIV, GIV-SP and G200, along with the Hawker Beechcraft 800XP/850XP/900XP.

Gulfstream Appleton is a certified U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Agency Part 145 repair station, allowing Appleton's 700 Product Support employees to work on aircraft registered in the U.S. and European Union countries. Gulfstream Appleton also has maintenance approvals from the civil aviation authorities in Bermuda, Canada and Saudi Arabia.

In 2011, Appleton's employees serviced nearly 330 aircraft at their 275,000-square-foot facility and on road trips.
