The RFDS has landed a PC24 Medi-Jet 24 on a 1,200m landing strip incorporated into a highway. The practice is more common with turboprop mediflights, but this is the first time a jet has touched down on a road.

Two EC145s have performed 100 retrievals since RFDS helicopter operations started in May last year. They cut out the need to transfer patients from fixed wing aircraft by ambulance to a hospital on landing.

The Brisbane facility has enjoyed significant growth over the past decade. Having started out providing Royal Flying Doctor Service support, it now marks its 1,000th RFDS work request.
