The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Western Australia has collaborated with PHI Aviation to perform an evacuation from an offshore oil rig near Darwin. A dedicated doctor and nurse team was sent to the location.

The new facility is located away from the main airport terminal, meaning RFDS flights are not interrupting, or interrupted by, growing commercial activity at the airport.
