The Cessna 510 Citation Mustang was the first fully certified entry level business jet. The programme was announced in 2002 and the aircraft made its first flight in April 2005. Full type certification was received from the FAA on 8 September, 2006 and from EASA on 21 May 21, 2007. The first delivery took place in November 2006. The Mustang is approved for single-pilot operation.
The airframe is primarily of aluminium alloy construction, with a three spar wing. The Mustang features a high lift airfoil wing design that enables low stall speeds as well as high speed cruise. The leading wing edges are swept at 11 degrees, protected by pneumatic de-ice boots, and an electronically controlled, hydraulic landing gear system includes retractable trailing links, wheels, and air/oil shocks.
On each side of the Mustang’s rear fuselage, enclosed in easily accessible nacelles, are two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW615F-A dual channel FADEC turbofan engines, each providing 1,350 lb of thrust.
