StandardAero has completed the shift of its PT6A operations in Grapevine, Texas, to its primary campus at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), bringing added maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) benefits for PT6A operators.
The DFW facility will continue to provide the same PT6A heavy maintenance service, with the added benefits of greater capacity, on-site test cell support and US duty-free import due to its foreign trade zone (FTZ) status. The move will also enable full overhaul capability to launch in 2027.
Giovanni Spitale, president of StandardAero Business Aviation, says: “While the transition of engine maintenance operations from site to site is not a simple task, the outcome of turn time optimisation due to the expanded operational capability is worth it to deliver a better service for our customers.”
Returning customers of the Grapevine facility are already inducting their PT6A engines into the DFW facility, backed by the same OEM-trained technicians, tenured technical support and engineering expertise.
Joe Capra, StandardAero vice president of commercial programmes, adds: “We understand that PT6A operators require quick, but high-quality support for their variety of engine maintenance needs to return their aircraft to service safely.”
StandardAero has supported the PT6A engine programme for more than 60 years. The first independent Pratt & Whitney Canada-authorised maintenance facility was established in Dallas by Dallas Airmotive, which StandardAero acquired in 2021.
There are more than 21,000 active PT6A engines around the world on board over 14,000 aircraft. StandardAero is a Pratt & Whitney Canada designated overhaul facility (DOF) for the PT6A at sites in the US, Canada, France, South Africa and Australia: Dallas, Summerside on Prince Edward Island, Gonesse, Johannesburg and Brisbane. Select support also comes from its regional turbine centres and on-site support from its mobile service team (MST).
