Ondas has completed the installation and EASA certification of its advanced Airborne Missile Protection System (AMPS), incorporating Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM), on a Bombardier Global 7500. This adds another high-value VVIP aircraft platform to the growing range of aircraft protected by the company’s advanced missile protection technologies.
“Protecting high-value aircraft and government aviation assets against increasingly sophisticated missile threats is a critical and growing defence requirement,” says chairman and CEO Eric Brock. “This certification demonstrates the advanced capabilities and operational expertise within our growing defence technology portfolio. As we continue building Ondas into a global defence technology leader, we see significant opportunities to expand our presence in airborne protection, leveraging proven technologies and complex system integration capabilities to address the evolving requirements of government and defence customers worldwide.”
The AMPS suite is designed to protect aircraft against Man-Portable Air-Defence Systems (MANPADS) and other infrared-guided missile threats. The system integrates advanced missile warning, threat detection and confirmation, tracking and directional infrared countermeasure capabilities, enabling rapid and accurate response to missile threats while reducing false alarms to virtually zero. Designed as an integrated, end-to-end protection solution, AMPS can be adapted to a wide range of aircraft platforms, including helicopters, transport aircraft, commercial aircraft and VVIP/head-of-state aircraft. Its differentiated capabilities combine advanced missile protection technology with extensive expertise in complex aircraft integration and certification, delivering turnkey programmes covering system design, integration, certification, installation and operational support.
The EASA certification confirms that the integration of the missile protection suite on the Global 7500 meets applicable European airworthiness requirements, enabling the aircraft to incorporate the advanced protection capability within its certified configuration.
