GD Helicopter Finance (GDHF) has entered into finance agreements worth over €125 million with German banks Helaba and BayernLB, supported by BpiFrance. Helaba is acting as lead arranger, facility agent and security trustee; BayernLB is also acting as lead arranger.
The proceeds of the loan agreement will be used to enable GDHF’s acquisition of multiple factory new Airbus H175 and H160 helicopters in 2026 and 2027. The finance facility has already been used for GDHF’s purchase of an H160 helicopter in September 2026.
In addition to the BpiFrance facility, Helaba and BayernLB are also committed to financing multiple AW189 helicopters, to be delivered in 2027.
Michael York, CEO of GDHF, says: “The loan will further enhance GDHF’s ability to regularly purchase factory new, cost-effective, multi-mission helicopters that meet or exceed the needs of our global customer base.”
Jörg Schirrmacher, head of project finance, international asset finance, at Helaba, adds: “This is a further important step in the build out of Helaba’s helicopter finance franchise.”
Oliver Geldner, head of sector aviation and space at BayernLB, adds: “We are pleased to contribute to GDHF’s growth strategy and thank everyone involved for the constructive and trusting collaboration throughout the transaction.”
GDHF is a helicopter finance company based in Ireland, building its portfolio of multi-mission helicopters through order books. Its helicopters are leased to operators globally and are used to deliver critical missions across sectors including offshore oil and gas, wind, EMS, SAR, government, corporate and parapublic.
