Aviation Registry Group (ARG) has appointed David Colindres as vice chairman, extending his leadership responsibilities across the Miami, Florida-based aviation organisation and its international aircraft registries.

Colindres will remain president of the San Marino Aircraft Registry (SMAR) while taking on his group-level responsibilities. As vice chairman, he will also serve as a member of ARG's executive board, with responsibility for overseeing the operations of the group of registries as a whole. ARG's international registry portfolio currently includes The Registry of Aruba, the San Marino Aircraft Registry and, most recently, the Gibraltar Aircraft Registry.

The expanded role will see Colindres work across ARG's registry operations, supporting group-level strategy and operational coordination while working with the leadership teams responsible for each individual registry.

“As the group grows, so does the opportunity to bring together the experience and knowledge developed across our different registry operations,” says Colindres.

Colindres has played a central role in the development and international growth of SMAR. Established in 2012 through a public-private partnership between the Republic of San Marino and ARG, SMAR has developed into an internationally active registry serving private, corporate and commercial aircraft operations. His experience working with aircraft owners, operators, lessors, financiers and aviation professionals across international markets will contribute to the strategic and operational direction of the wider group.

Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Miami, ARG has more than 30 years of experience in civil aviation regulation, technical services and safety oversight. It has operated The Registry of Aruba since 1995 and SMAR since 2012, with Gibraltar the latest addition to the portfolio. Its international team includes professionals with backgrounds at ICAO, the US Federal Aviation Administration, UK Civil Aviation Authority, European Union Aviation Safety Agency, Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation and Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

The three registries operate within their respective jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks, with ARG providing the experience, infrastructure and international network that support their development.
