MT-Propeller Entwicklung has received the STC 2026S08-05 from Brazil's Agencia Nacional de Aviacao Civil for the installation of the Silent 7 seven-blade propeller MTV-37-1-E-C-F-R(P)/CFR205-353( ) on the Piper PA46-600TP and Piper PA46-701TP powered respectively by the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42A and PT6A-52 turboprop engines.
This installation is already supplemental type certified by EASA STC 10089486 and FAA STC A21246IB.
The seven-blade Silent 7 MT-Propeller was introduced to the general aviation market in 2020 after being successfully certified for the Pilatus PC-12. More than 150 PC-12s are already in service with this high-performance seven-blade propeller.
Subsequently, the seven-bladed models were also certified on the Shorts Skyvan and King Air 350 series. In total, more than 200 seven-bladed systems are already in service worldwide.
In 2024, flight tests began to certify this advanced propeller system for the Piper PA-46-600TP and PA-46-701TP as well, so that these models can also benefit from the advantages of the Silent 7 MT propeller.
MT-Propeller vice president Martin Albrecht says that the installation features the following: shorter take-off distance by approximately -10 per cent; enhanced climb performance by approximately 5 per cent; cruise performance increased by 2-3 kts; significant inside and outside noise reductions; and compliance with the strict German Landeplatz Lärmschutz Verordnung noise regulations of 2010 for unrestricted airport operations in Germany and other European countries.
The long-time proven MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction. They have no life limitation and are repairable in case of a FOD.
They also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on nickel alloy leading edges for superior erosion protection of the blades.
MT-Propeller is a leading natural composite propeller manufacturer with 30 propeller models from two-blade to seven-blade hydraulically controlled variable pitch propellers for engines producing up to 5,000hp, and two-blade to four-blade electrically controlled variable pitch propellers for engines producing up to 350hp as well as two blade fixed pitch propellers.
The high performance, light weight and durable MT-Propellers can be used on aircraft with piston engines and propeller turbines, as well as on airships, wind tunnels or hovercraft. MT-Propellers can be developed for nearly every aircraft type from motor gliders to regional airliners.
Fulfilling the highest certification requirements, they are also supplemental type certified on Part 25 aircraft.
With no active ADs, this is a safety record no other manufacturer has achieved so far.
The MT-Propeller fleet is approaching a total of 125,000 propeller blades on over 34,500 propeller systems in operation and can look back on accumulated 200 million flight hours in over 45 years.
With the best damage tolerance and repairability, MT-Propeller has the lowest operational cost of any certified composite propeller manufacturer.
